Following an already successful year of supporting local charities, Sitel Newcastle finished 2017 strong over the holidays by partnering with St Oswald’s Hospice, a local charity providing specialist hospice care to adults, young people and children with life-limiting conditions.

“We were absolutely blown away in the St Oswald’s fundraising office last week to receive such a wonderful and generous donation from Sitel toward our Christmas hampers,” said Katy Taberham, Senior Fundraiser, St Oswald’s Hospice. “Thank you so much to everyone who donated these fantastic goodies! Every year our Christmas hampers raise more than £10,000 – enough to fund over 500 hours of nursing care. This makes a huge difference to people who need our care, advice and support. Thank you to Sitel for their amazing generosity and for supporting St Oswald’s.”

Sitel Newcastle chose to work in partnership with St Oswald’s Hospice as the selected charity for the site in the second half of 2017. The team raised close to £10,200 for the charity as a result of several fundraising initiatives the last half of the year.

“Everyone at Sitel should be very proud of the role they’ve played and know that this donation will help so many people at St Oswald’s,” said Taberham. “Every penny will be used to ensure our patients receive the best possible care and their families and loved ones are supported during these difficult times. We can’t thank you enough for raising these funds for us.”

The goodies were donated by the 850 associates based in Sitel’s Newcastle-upon-Tyne location and were used by the hospice to create tempting Christmas baskets to be raffled by local businesses, clubs and groups to raise vital funds for St Oswald’s and the many local people and families who use their services.

Sitel Newcastle’s Site Director, Judith Mottershead, is proud of her team for their contributions and efforts over the holiday season.

“St Oswald’s Hospice is a local charity that offers tremendous support and care to people in our community and is an organization close to the hearts of the team,” said Mottershead. “As a major local employer, we have a huge responsibility to make a difference in our region, both in terms of creating new jobs and supporting local organizations. The team in Newcastle are totally committed to actively supporting local charities in the area, as part of our broader corporate social responsibility program. I am continually amazed at the generosity of the team and am proud of the ways in which they have donated both time and money to give back to our community.”

Since 2015, the Sitel Newcastle team has raised close to £46,846 for a number of local charities, including The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, CHUF, Alzheimer’s Society, Daft as a Brush and Bubble Foundation.
