Sitel Group Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Sitel Group has gone pink this October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting women globally. Thus, each October, there are many campaigns around the world raising awareness about the disease.

Many of Sitel’s sites went pink to bring awareness to associates and highlight the importance of education and early detection through their sites and local communities.

Sitel’s associates from around the globe were encouraged to come to work wearing pink and accessorize with the signature pink ribbon. It was up to each site’s leadership team to decide which day in October their site (and associates) would go pink.

“We believe by wearing pink for a day we are increasing awareness, educating and encouraging our associates to take steps to reduce their risk of breast cancer,” said Susana Vigaray, Global Director, Corporate Social Responsibility. “It is inspiring to see thousands of associates joining in this fight.”

Pink around the globe…

Many of the Group’s sites took the pink initiative a step further and organized events to help the cause throughout October:

  • France: Associates took part in breast cancer awareness races all over the country
  • Netherlands: Funds were raised through a website and matched by the company to donate to breast cancer research
  • U.S.: Bake sales were held with proceeds donated to the American Cancer Society
  • Panama: Associates organized a fundraiser with pins and other items being sold with proceeds donated
  • Spain: Associates listened to a guest speaker talk about breast cancer awareness in their site
  • Brazil and Portugal: Associates distributed leaflets with breast cancer information to others in their sites
