Sitel Worldwide Corporation, a global call center outsourcing provider, is opening a new center at 1417 N. Magnolia Drive in the former Taylor, Bean & Whitaker central document processing facility.
Sitel, which expects to bring about 500 jobs to the community, is leasing the building. According to spokeswoman JoLynna King, there were a lot of furniture items, cubicles, file cabinets, tables and bookcases left behind when TBW went out of business, which were going to be tossed out for renovation of the building.
King said she was working with a local general contractor, The Alexander Group, which was going to arrange for the items to be disposed of. She said she facilitated an agreement with Sitel and The Alexander Group to allow the Humane Society of Marion County to come in and remove the items. Plus, The Alexander Group made a donation to the society of $2,500. In addition, King said, N & N Office Furniture in Ocala removed the existing cubicles and cleaned them up for resale to the community at a very low cost.
King also said that with Sitel moving into the area, it is bringing excitement to some other local business, including the Magnolia Bakery, which has committed to reopening their retail store across the street and expanding their services. "Sitel is looking to be up and running, at least in part, by July 20th, which is the same day Magnolia Bakery's retail store is reopening across the street," King wrote in a news release.
